  Hello McClatchey family!

I am Alisha Cunningham and I am extremely excited and  blessed to serve this campus and community as the Principal of DME. We established a firm cultural foundation last school year and I can’t wait to get back to work and continue to build an amazing environment for your kids. This year our theme is “Keep Moving Forward”. Last year we made great strides in building a strong campus culture that focused on meeting kids where they were and having a laser focus on their growth and then celebrating students and staff for their efforts. This year we will continue to build on that culture and push ourselves to create an even better community of educators and scholars that are focused on growth and getting better each day. One thing that remains unchanged is our commitment to your kids!

I wholeheartedly believe that all kids can learn at high levels. Our job as a school family is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that focuses on building relationships and pushing kids to reach their fullest potential. I am committed to working together with our families, staff and community to create an outstanding school environment where all kids will enjoy learning and will flourish. I believe that a strong parent-school partnership is the foundation for success and I welcome you to get involved, plug-in and volunteer. Whether you are new to the DME family or a returning one, you are welcome here!

I am beyond excited to get this year rolling and to see all of you and your amazing kids! I look forward to our third year together, learning and growing with our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive community. I know that by working together, we can make this year the best one yet!

Sincerely, Alisha Cunningham

Dear McClatchey Families,
I am honored to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at McClatchey Elementary School. While I am new to this role, McClatchey already holds a special place in my heart because my daughter, Everly, is a student here. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to experience this school as a parent, and I am incredibly excited to now join the DME family as an educator as well.

I have worked in public education since 2008 and have served as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist, Title I teacher, campus data analyst, and testing coordinator. Each role has shaped my belief that relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Students are most successful when they know the adults around them care about them, believe in them, and are committed to helping them grow.

As an assistant principal, my goal is simple: to help create a school where every student feels known, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential. I believe children thrive when we pair strong relationships with high expectations. Every student is capable of learning, growing, and accomplishing great things, and it is our responsibility to help them see that in themselves.

One of the things I love most about education is that no two days are ever the same. Some of the most important moments happen outside of academics in conversations in the hallway, celebrations of student success, problem-solving through challenges, and the relationships we build along the way. Those moments matter, and I look forward to being a part of them with your children.

I am excited to get to know the students, families, and staff who make McClatchey such a special place. Thank you for welcoming me into this community. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and connection.

Warmly,
Dr. Kyle Murphy
